There are some items that will be needed on a camp out but not every scout needs to bring one.  These items are patrol equipment items.  Some are obtained by contacting the Troop Quartermaster, others each boy in the patrol is assigned to bring a specific item.

The gear a patrol needs for camping depends in part on the kind of adventure they are planning, the location of their camp, and the weather they expect.  The following list of items will outfit patrol for nearly and situation:

Troop 263 ~ Patrol Equipment Overnight Camping Gear

  1. Tenst with poles, stakes, groundcloth (tarp), and lines - 2 - 3 boys to a tent.  Tents can be obtained from the quartermaster.  Reserve 2 weeks prior to the camping event.
  2. Dining Fly - to cover the area you plan on eating and cooking in - The Troop does have this for all patrols.
  3. Rope or Nylon cord - 50 feet for any thing you may need to tie off
  4. Patrol Box - with stove and cooking gear - Reserve 2 weeks prior to the camping event from the quartermaster
  5. Make sure your patrol box has the following - if not let the quartermaster know
    • Pots and pans
    • spatula, large spoon, ladle,
    • lighters for stove
    • pot holders
    • sponge or dish cloth
    • dish soap
    • sanitizing rinse agent (bleach)
    • scouting pads
    • trash bags
    • papertowles
    • 3 wash basins for dishes
  6. Your Patrols flag to be displayed in the area where your patrol set up its tents.
  7. Troop has axe, camp saw, troop flag and US flag
  8. Group First Aid Kit - The troop has this for the entire troop on any camp out

Don't have the camping equipment you need then check this store out - you can Rent the equipement you will need and give it a try before you invest in a purchase of the equipment.
